The city of Brampton is recognized as one of Canada’s fastest growing municipalities with a population of 433,806 (2006 census). Located in the region of Peel, Brampton is part of the Greater Toronto Area. It gets its name from the rural town of Brampton, Cumbria, England. In 2003, the city celebrated its sesquicentennial anniversary, marking 150 years since it’s incorporation as a village in 1853.
